Adam was a positive, optimistic person and his family is determined to make positive outcomes occur out of his passing. Adam was also such an important person in their lives that they are intent on commemorating him and making sure the ones he knew will never forget him.

Gene’s dream was an annual concert to celebrate his life, and at the same time, raise money for the fund that would be set up to do good things in his name. At the very least, Gene envisioned a small reunion with his closest friends playing music and having a good time. But his real dream was much bigger: to hold an annual rock concert in a significant venue with several bands playing and hundreds of people attending in a celebratory reunion.
One year after Adam’s death, Truckin’ with Adam 2001 was born and the Excelsior Bandshell on Lake Minnetonka was the venue. Several hundred people rocked to the music of The White Iron Band, Taboot and Adam’s Friends. Gene’s dream became a reality that, after six successful years, has surpassed his greatest expectations. This success is a tribute to his friends, his family, and all the like-minded people who support the Truckin’ cause.

The close bond that Gene, Becky and Emily formed with Adam’s many friends is truly unique. Initially, their connection was all about remembering, understanding and comforting one another in grief. Now it’s about friendship, compassion, love of music, and celebrating every day we walk on earth. It’s also all about knowing that souls are eternal, and what really counts in the end is the love we share.

In 2005 Lisa Scoville produced a Truckin’ documentary that spoke volumes about why people support and enjoy Truckin’ with Adam. In 2006, Lisa met an untimely death due to lung disease. We commemorate Lisa and the good work she accomplished. She understood the Truckin’ cause well and we celebrate her life.

“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
